Guests can mountain bike directly out of the back gate and one mile up a quiet country lane before you get to miles and miles of beautiful hill country tracks. Maps are available at Plas Dinam detailing different routes to suit all abilities.
Plas Dinam managers EJ and Tyson are keen mountain bikers themselves and can help with trail selection, bike servicing and some spare parts. They would be delighted to offer guided rides too, if organised in advance.
Specialist mountain bike centres
Located near the pretty market town of Machynlleth around a 40 minute drive from Plas Dinam the cli-machx centre is a superb purpose built track.
Nant-yr-Arian forest sits high on the mountains just inland from Aberystwyth, around 40 minutes from Plas Dinam, and offers stunning high-level wilderness riding. With trails heading out into the epic scenery of the Cambrian Mountains, this is a fantastic area for those who like their riding rugged. Just be prepared for everything from true mountain climbs to river crossings and technical rocky descents.
Coed-y-Brenin is a 60 minutes drive from Plas Dinam and has seven different hand built all weather single tracks. Coed y Brenin was the first forest to be developed specifically for mountain biking and still retains its reputation as the sport’s premier location. There are a range of routes that pan out from a state-of-the-art eco visitor centre, providing levels suitable for everyone from families and novices to expert riders (the rocky technical routes are fantastic). You’ll not only enjoy the routes themselves, but also the breathtaking scenery around, with views across to Cadair Idris, glaciated valleys, wild untamed rivers and forest, all in the heart of Snowdonia National Park.
